Fort Wayne Spends $22 Million On Construction This Year

Lisa Ryan, WBOI News

This year, the City of Fort Wayne spent more than $22 million on road and construction projects.

Construction crews repaired nearly 75 miles of Fort Wayne’s streets. Thirteen miles of sidewalk and trail were also improved, according to a press release from the mayor’s office.

In addition to these repairs, Mayor Tom Henry says making the city more accessible for people with disabilities is also a priority.

“We’re addressing a lot of corners throughout our city that were not handicap accessible,” Henry said. “We wanted to address them in the past, we just could not get to them, and now we are.”

About 1,400 ADA ramps were constructed this year in Fort Wayne, and Henry says he plans to have more installed next construction season.
